Service Animals (SA) are allowed in any public building on campus, including Robert R. Muntz Library.   The federal definition of a Service Animal is a dog that has been specifically trained to perform a specific task(s) directly related to a disability diagnosis.  The state of Texas has provision for SA in Training, but they also must be in training to perform a specific task(s) related to a diagnosed disability.  UTTyler students do not need to register SAs with the Student Accessibility and Resources Office on campus, although for support and potentially other available accommodations, it is encouraged.  Service Dogs must be under the control of the handler by means of a leash or similar device that is no longer than six feet or by voice command.  Handlers will be asked to remove the SA if they cause property damage, pose a threat to others or are not under the control of the handler at all times.

Emotional Support Animals

Emotional support animals are not allowed in Muntz Library.  UT Tyler dorms and apartments are required to allow emotional support animals.
