How do I download Adobe Digital Editions?

Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) is a free program that is used for managing ebooks with digital rights management (DRM). It is like iTunes for eBooks. You will need it if you want to download most ebooks from the library including ebooks from EBSCOhost, ebrary, and EBL. You do not need ADE to access and read ebooks online or to download Springer eBooks.

Step 1: Sign up for an Adobe ID if you do not already have one. You will need it during installation.

Step 2: On your personal computer go to this website and click Install.

NOTE: Do not install ADE on a public or library computer. You will be able to open the book but it will be locked to that computer. You will not be able to transfer it to an ereader or access it again after you have logged off.

Step 3: Follow the installation instructions. If you need help, view this video demonstration.

Step 4: When you are prompted to login during the installation do so with your Adobe ID (see Step 1) and click Activate.

NOTE: If you skip Step 4 you will still be able to read and access downloaded ebooks on your computer, but you will not be able to transfer them to another computer or eReading device.
