When I submit an ILL request, how long will it take for me to receive it?

Answer

The Library processes new requests daily, Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays and breaks.  The amount of time it takes to receive an ILL depends on the type of request placed, the lending libraries speed in processing, and the method of delivery (electronic delivery, courier, or US Postal Service). 

Articles are usually delivered electronically, which means the request may be filled within one to two business days.  Hard to find articles will take longer.

Books, musical scores, media items and other physical items may take four to seven business days.  Items requested from out of state libraries and hard to find items will take longer.   

If a borrower agrees to pay for an item that is not available from a free lender, charges are incurred at the time of shipment regardless of the date the item is received. 

Muntz Library does not guarantee delivery of any request.  All interlibrary loan requests should be placed as early as possible to avoid receiving an item after it is no longer needed.  If an item is not picked up from the library, a $2.00 non-pickup fee will be charged unless the library is notified either by phone, email, or in person.
