Does the Library carry textbooks?

I need to check out the textbook for my class. Can I access it in the Library?

The Library does not purchase course textbooks.  Some textbooks, either current or older editions, may be available if a faculty member has placed one in Course Reserves, a copy has been donated and placed in the collection, or if an electronic version is available in our databases.  Textbooks required for UT Tyler classes cannot be obtained through interlibrary loan.  Search Muntz Library catalog

If a textbook is not available, the campus bookstore can provide options to buy or rent course textbooks.  If the textbook is on back order, a department or personally owned copy may be place on reserves temporarily - please contact your professor.

Course Reserves

Faculty members may put a department or personally owned copy of a textbook or other required class material in Course Reserves.  Course Reserves are located behind the Circulation Desk, usually check out as ‘in-library use only’ or as specified by the faculty member, and are available only to current UT Tyler students, faculty, and staff.  Please see Circulation staff and provide the course number and name of the professor when checking for availability.  Course Reserves are available on a first come, first served basis.
